Spring/Summer Fashion Calendar

For the fashion world, this time of the year can tend to feel a little like being a kid in the days after Christmas. Although the excitement of fashion month and awards season is behind us, never fear! There are plenty of amazing fashion events coming up this spring and summer, some of which anyone can take advantage of!

Legendary designer and my dear friend, Todd Oldham, has a new exhibition at the RISD Museum, showcasing his amazing talent spanning nearly every facet of design. It runs April 8-September 11 and is not to be missed!

The Met Gala is arguably the biggest display of haute couture outside official Fashion Week events! You can bet that the attendees of this iconic event on May 2nd will be wearing some over-the-top outfits. I’m looking forward to seeing them all!

Speaking of the Met…

With so much attention placed on the Gala, we sometimes forget that its whole purpose is to celebrate the museum’s spring fashion exhibition, displayed in the Robert Lehman Galleries and Anna Wintour Costume Center. This year’s theme, Manus ex Machina: fashion in an age of technology, explores technology’s impact on design and crafting techniques in the “handmade vs. machine-made” debate. This is an unmissable event if you’re in New York, so be sure to check it out!

The 69th Festival de Cannes will take place May 11-22, and is one of the best fashion events of the year! With a more eclectic vibe than you typically find on the red carpet at American Awards shows, this film festival is the epitome of elegance and offers more than a week of beautiful designs to take in!
