Hair & Skin: Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Did you know that apple cider vinegar or ACV, when combined with water in the right proportion is an excellent hair conditioner and skin toner? I learned about this as a child but came across the information again in an article.

Of course, it’s best to use an organic brand of raw ACV. It removes residue in hair from product buildup and works as a natural detangler. When used regularly, it can revitalize your hair, leaving it feeling healthy and springy. It also makes your hair shiny! For an ACV rinse or conditioner after shampooing, pour a mixture of one part ACV and one part water into your hair. You can apply it with a spray bottle. Massage it into your scalp, and then let the apple cider vinegar mix sit for a few minutes before rinsing out with water. If you do an ACV rinse after shampooing, there’s no need to use a regular conditioner.

For a skin toner that can help refresh, purify, and partly moisturize your skin, mix one part ACV with two parts water and lightly spray or dab on your face right after cleansing. There’s no need to worry about the vinegar smell which will dissipate after a few minutes. If you have sensitive skin, it’s probably best to dilute the solution further. This ACV toner will leave your skin glowing. And you can add a few tablespoons of ACV to your bath for full-body softness.

Apple cider vinegar is also great for your health! It’s one of those fermented foods that is talked about regularly in health circles today. As I’ve suggested before, a great way to start the day is with a cup of heated water with one teaspoon of ACV and a little honey. Also, try it out in salad dressing!
