Oscar Roundup

Ok, how great was Ellen DeGeneres as Oscar host? She killed it big time. I am an Ellen fan once again. Her comedic timing and style are effortless. It was pure delight to watch the show this year because of her. She set the tone for a light spirited romp through an otherwise boring, never-ending show. Although it still managed to run 3 and a half hours long!

In my opinion, the best moments were the pizza delivery (and Brad Pitt serving up a slice to Meryl Streep), the selfie that shut twitter down momentarily, and of course Ellen’s quick-witted jokes – like her penis joke to Jonah Hill. However, my absolute favorite moment of the evening didn’t come from Ellen or any of the nominees, it came from John Travolta. You must know the moment I’m referring to right? It was when John was introducing Idina Menzel and completely mispronounced her name and then carried on as if nothing happened! Well played John, well played. I laughed so hard I fell to the floor. “Adela Dazeem” is the name that barely escaped his lips when he introduced her. I replayed that moment at least 3 times while my friend and I were crying laughing.

How about the dresses this year? Lupita Nyong’o in Prada was my favorite of the night. How stunning did she look in this gorgeous pale blue gown? Her skin is luminescent, and her smile and spirit are so attractive that she beamed her radiance out to us all night long. Thank you Lupita! Amy Adams shined in a deep blue Gucci that hugged her body in all the right places. I also liked her red carpet hairdo, which she took down during a certain part of the show. On the red carpet it was twisted into a bun a la Kim Novak’s character in Vertigo. Amy said she was paying homage to Ms. Novak who made an appearance as a presenter alongside Matthew McConaughey. Speaking of the “alright alright” man himself, his beautiful wife, Camila Alves, looked stunning in her pink Gabriela Cadena gown. I also loved Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace – Pow! Stunning. The shoulders, the bodice, the plunging neckline and the color. And finally, Kerry Washington and her baby bump in Jason Wu – beautiful! I loved how the dress draped her pregnant body. She managed to look sexy and comfortable at the same time.

Which were your favorite dresses? What were your favorite moments?
