Hot off the New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2015 Runways

As we head towards the finish line, I’m liking what I’m seeing thus far from the New York Fashion Week runways for Spring/Summer 2015. Specifically from Carolina Herrera, Versus and Cushnie et Ochs. Each had color and pattern themes running through their collections, and a wonderful structure to every look that reminded me once again of what a skilled craftsman can do with clothing design.

After all, isn’t that what Fashion Week is all about? A display of the latest clothing designs from the most talented fashion designers around? I prefer to see innovative creations from highly skilled artisans, rather than a lot of material thrown together by less skilled dress-makers who are solely following whatever trend is popular at the moment.

I adored Carolina Herrera’s use of white, bright orange, mellow yellow and red in her designs as well as a different floral pattern running through some of her exquisitely feminine and sophisticated creations.

Versus was a hit of black, bold, military-structured and sexy designs, one after the other all the way to the end. I loved the splash of gold in the clothes as well as in the accessories and the geometric patterns in some of the looks. Very alive! Very Versace.

Cushnie et Ochs are my favorite of the younger set of designers in New York. I get so excited to see what these two highly skilled female designers will come up with each season. They certainly did not disappoint this week. Their gorgeous sensual, feminine designs were thrilling to see. And in such sumptuous fabrics and colors, such as sultry yellow, midnight blue, pale pink, and black and white, both together in a striped pattern as well as used separately in different outfits. Loved it!
