Beauty Tips: How to Keep Your Skin Healthy During Winter

We all know how skin can dry out in the winter. I can sometimes cut paper with my winter heels! In rooms robbed of moisture by the cold weather and central heating, one’s skin can get so dry it cracks and hurts (also, remember to be grateful if you have heating as many people don’t).

The solution is easy:

1.) If possible, keep the heat low or off altogether in your bedroom, especially overnight.

2.) Get a humidifier suitable for the size of your room(s).  Expensive humidifiers aren’t necessarily better than inexpensive ones.  A friend of mine bought a one-gallon capacity Homedics dehumidifier for small and medium-size rooms at $60, and it’s working well.

3.) We’re always told to drink a lot of water. In the winter, drink MORE.

4.) Use a strong moisturizer. If your usual moisturizer isn’t good enough for the winter, try a different and possibly heavier one.

5.) Be sure to include good oils in your diet, like olive oil, flax oil, walnut oil, sesame oil, and black cumin oil.  They’re great for your skin all year round but especially in winter. They’re also great for general health.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on how you keep your skin moist in winter! Let me know if there’s a humidifier you’d like to recommend.
