The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards 2014
What a fun show it was!
How great were Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as hostesses of the Golden Globes?! What sheer fun it is to turn on your TV and know that you will be taken on a magical-comedy ride as they expertly guide you through a fun night of awards.
Their opening monologue alone provided plenty of laughs to get me through the evening including the Tam Honks or Tom Hanks wrong name jokes, George Clooney in the film Gravity and the joke about the age of women he dates, Jonah Hill’s party joke, and so much more! Tina and Amy work so well together. They sailed through the evening proving once again how suited they are for the job.
One of my personal favorite moments from the ceremony was when Bono gave Amy Poehler a shoulder massage, and she turned around and gave him a good, strong kiss! Lucky lady! 🙂 And how about when Tina congratulated Amy on winning her Golden Globe while making a joke about Taylor Swift?! And of course the hilarious joke when they announced Leonardo DiCaprio. Too funny! Great writing and great deliveries!
I loved Diane Keaton’s acceptance speech on behalf of Woody Allen for the Cecil B. DeMille Award. What a wonderful talent, spirit and eccentricity she inhabits. I thought she was so brave to sing in A cappella in this day of ”perfect” and polished commercial singing. Even though she wasn’t onstage to perform a song nor is she known to be a singer, it still took a certain amount of courage and grace. Bravo Ms. Keaton! And well deserved Mr. Allen!
In terms of my favorite red carpet looks, Amy Adams in Valentino, Lupita Nyong’o in Ralph Lauren, Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive, and a sexy pregnant Olivia Wilde scored high on my list. Wilde sizzled in her Gucci dress.
I hope the Oscars can live up to this well-produced show!
